welcome to my attempt at a Daharsh meeting place

Hello all Daharshs.

I have had this domain (daharsh.net) for a while now, and have been receiving more email from Daharshs all over the US as the months go by.

For now, I'll leave posting open, so no registration is required. If comments get out of hand, I'll start requiring free registration.

So post away.

All my life I have longed to be a Daharsh, and I would be except for one thing...wrong Dad, and for that I will suffer throughout my earthly existance. I have had the good fortune to hang with a Daharsh, to watch him and his family though jobs changes, childbirth and relocation, and in this life that will have to be enough for me. Perhaps in heaven we will all be Daharsh's; perhaps that is the new name we will get. I had always thought that it would be Ysteboe...

:o)

I'm sitting here trying to find out which Ysteboe this is. What are the chances that a Daharsh could know more than one Ysteboe in one lifetime?

Thanks for the post, remember the Alamo!

The choice Daharsh city,

A placid city where all Daharsh's live with only one concern....Fishing. Only blocks away but meals apart, wishing we were all neighbors. Where eating is always an option and driving by could always happen. :)

Never shoot the moving bush with an arrow.

I am a Daharsh from the valley of Death, better known as Death Valley, California. Dayharsh,Duh'harsh my last name is uttered with the discontent of a name mispronounced by the multitudes.I some times wonder if I pronounce it wrong, is it really Duhharsh or is it Dayharsh, do I really know! Nope I dont. So, I draw the line in the sand ....... are you a (Dayharsh)or a (Duh-harsh)? There is a difference! Just curious how do you pronounce your last name?

Learned a little after reading" The Daharsh Story " But some of it is not documented,so don't know how much is factual.Have read back to Philip Daharsh born 1756.Does any one have info to fill the gaps?Would like to hear.texasgal73624@yahoo.com---Thanks Sandra Daharsh McCullough

Hi, I am Billie Jo Daharsh (now Jones by marriage). I was born in California. Our name has always been pronouned Day-harsh. I am a decendent of the Philip from 1756 in Upstate New York. One of our relatives put the Daharsh story together that shows all of our relatives for about 8 generations. The daharsh story talks about and documents how Philip served in a Paletene regiment. I have a copy of the story, if anyone wants a copy email me and I will be happy to send you one. Some souces speculate that our name was originally spelled DeHarsh and it was mispelled back in the 1700's. That would explain why we all go back to Philip and there are so few of us. I have looked in phone books literally all over the world for our name. The closest names that I have found were in the Paletene area and now the Alsace-lorraine area of france. The immigrants to america from this area were called pennsulvania dutch. Maybe that is why I had always heard that we were Dutch but in Holland Dutch names did not even come close to being spelled like ours. My dad's name was William Albert and I had an Uncle named John that lived in Silverton Colorado. He died a few years back in Durango. It's a good chance that our Grandfathers were related. I think that would make us second cousins, small world eh. I am very curious as to how you got a picture of my dad? The drawing you posted looks just like him - hairline and all.

Hey BJ, you did not leave your email address. I would be interested in the literature you have on our last name. Thanks in advance. Robert Daharsh
