Fourth of July Surprise
I had an interesting day yesterday. It really started at midnight or so when I headed back from Breckenridge. Actually I left Breck. around 9 PM on the third, but I stopped in Dillon to watch Superman Returns. The movie ended after midnight on the Fourth, which is when I headed back to Fort Collins.
I arrived home around 2:30 AM and went to bed. I set my alarm 2 hours earlier than I meant to, which I did not realize until I was in my truck pulling out of my driveway. You can read the comments on my Flickr post (click on the photo to view that page).
I stood in the sun most of the day selling balloons for a youth group fundraiser. My head and arms are reasonably burnt. We made some money but we'll need to do more fundraising. It was a good day, though - the students did a great job and we talked to a lot of people.
When I came home, the neighborhood kids were running around the cul-de-sac, along with grandkids of our neighbor who were visiting. I pulled out the helium cylinder and some of the (many) left-over ballons and let them each have as many balloons as they wanted. That was a lot of fun, I just wish my own kids could have been there, too. They are still in Breckenridge with the rest of the in-laws.
Last night I met Jason and Brenda for fireworks in City Park. What a fiasco! The fireworks were fine, but the crowd was amazing. Parking was crazy, and it took me an hour to get home.
The highlight of my day was the morning balloon adventure.
