Holy Sunset!

I have been catching some great sunsets lately.

Tonight after voting I was headed home and the sky was prepped for an amazing sunset. I wanted to get back to a lake so I could get some photos, but I didn't have time.

Here are 3 shots I took from my house:

As it turns out, lots of other folks were shooting the same sunset:

What a treat!

Pastor John

So sometime this summer someone referred to me as "Pastor John" from the front of church.

It's happened a few more times since.

A few weeks ago they called me to the front of church during the service and the church gave me and our senior pastor each a fruit basket with a nice gift inside.

I've never received a fruit basket before, it was pretty cool.

Now all the fruit is gone and we have another plant growing in our living room.

We launched our young adult service last month. It is called "Night Life" - the pilot went well. We have much room to grow but it felt like a good start. I need alternative worship experience ideas. We have good music but I really want to explore other more non-traditional worship ideas. I want to incorporate the arts in as many ways as we can.

This coming weekend I am taking our youth group to a fall retreat. It is being put together by our denomination and I don't know any of the speakers or artists, but these things tend to go well and be a lot of fun.

I'm going to try and go bowhunting again in a few weeks. Hopefully that will work out. Last year was incredible, and the idea of getting away for a few days sounds great.

I've been really busy getting a super-cool web site put together for a friend. I'll post more details and a link once its live. It will be great but it has been one of the most challenging things I've done.

Tonight someone who has become a friend in my drawing group announced that they won't be back - that they are moving to Hong Kong. I'll miss you Melanie.

That's all the random updates for now!
